John McKechnie AO KC is a former Corruption and Crime Commissioner, Supreme Court Judge and Director of Public Prosecutions. A second-generation Western Australian, he brings to the role of Chair, a lifelong commitment to public service and community leadership. Reflecting on his appointment, Mr McKechnie said he inherited a love of stories from his parents and is drawn to THEATRE 180’s mission of bringing true and compelling — sometimes forgotten or largely unknown — stories to life.
“THEATRE 180 is a well-established pillar of Western Australia’s cultural landscape and it is an honour to be a part,” he said. “I am inspired by the innovative ways in which the stage is transformed during each act to illuminate important WA stories.”
