THEATRE 180’s motto of GREAT STORIES, WELL TOLD sees us seeking out the best of writing from Australia and around the world to present for audiences in our home town Perth, and on tour around regional WA, interstate and internationally.
We also create opportunities for local, Western Australian writers to research and develop new plays and take them into full production. Often, this work will spring from our Agelink Pillar and is the result of a commission to write a play based on a specific person, organisation or local area community. As such we have become industry leaders in staging works based on historical figures and moments of historical importance.
Our productions are staged in venues as diverse as theatres, site-specific locations, cathedrals, libraries and community halls, as well as outdoor venues and as part of Festival programming. Whether presented with full production values or as Readers’ Theatre, THEATRE 180 can work within any budget and timeframe to create theatre which moves, entertains and brings about social change through the fundamentally human act of storytelling.
