In 1991 Helen graduated as an actor from WAAPA, receiving the Nigel Rideout award for outstanding achievement. Her roles at WAAPA included, Masha in The Seagull, Barbara in A pack of lies and Puck, in A midsummer nights’ dream, She went on to perform in theatre, film, opera and television; As Sorrell, in Cargo for Perth theatre Company, as the tailor’s wife in The Overcoat and Titania in A midsummer nights’ dream for Rattling tongues theatre company, as Helen, In Neon Street for STC, as Mick Misery in The Bugalugs bum thief for Monkey Baa Theatre co, as ensemble in As ships pass by for Theatre 180 and Madeline in Boy gets girl for Black Swan State Theatre Company. For WA opera she performed the roles of Mercedes in Carmen and Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus for The Singapore Lyric Opera. Her feature films include roles in Three Summers and Stone Bros. Television roles, in Something in the air, Children’s hospital, Streetsmartz and Ship to Shore and short film roles in Shift, Mamani and 1130. In 2011, Helen expanded her skills into writing and directing. She completed a Bachelor of communications, majoring in screen studies and in 2014 won the Channel 9 award for best documentary. She has written and directed audio-visual resources for ECU, Curtin University and CCWA. She also diversified into documentary film, working with Artemis International, in research and production development for the ABC’s- Who do you think you are and Don’t Stop the Music, directing the penultimate concert for Don’t stop the Music. Helen also works as a facilitator in change management and workplace mental health.
