The Hon Kerry Sanderson AC CVO served as Governor of Western Australia from 2014 to 2018, becoming the first woman to hold the office. She subsequently served as Edith Cowan University’s fourth Chancellor until December 2021 and continues to Chair St John of God Health Care and the WA Parks Foundation, as well as serve as a Director of WA Cricket and patron of numerous charitable and community organisations. Prior to her appointment as Governor, Mrs Sanderson held senior leadership roles including London-based Agent General for Western Australia, Chief Executive Officer of Fremantle Ports for 17 years, Deputy Director General of Transport and Director of the Economic and Financial Policy Division of the WA Treasury. Her extensive board experience includes Chair of Gold Corporation and Independent Chair of the State Emergency Management Committee, among many others. She has been appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia and a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in recognition of her eminent service.
“I love the fact that THEATRE 180 tells local stories in a gripping and fascinating way,” Mrs Sanderson said. “I was captured as soon as I saw A Fortunate Life, but even more so when I knew they were doing the inspiring Vivian Bullwinkel story in 21 Hearts. And as a former Governor of Western Australia, I was particularly pleased to also see Arthur Haynes and The Smoking Gun, as I had been told about the murder in the Ballroom which was part of where I lived as Governor. There are so many exciting stories to be told by this wonderful company.”
